River Hill Farm is deeply rooted in Vermont’s agricultural heritage. Once the home of Thomas Chittenden, Vermont’s first governor, the farm has been part of the Clark family since 1835. For nearly two centuries, generations of the family have worked this land, preserving its history while adapting to the changing needs of agriculture.
Today River Hill Farm is owned and operated by Cameron Clark, her husband Dan O’Shaughnessy ll and Cameron’s mother, Patrice. Together, they continue the family’s legacy by caring for more than 560 acres of fields, forests, and sugarbush with a commitment to environmental stewardship, animal welfare, and sustainable farming.
What began as a traditional Vermont farm has grown into a thriving operation that combines grass-fed dairy farming with an extensive maple sugaring business. Each spring, thousands of maple trees are tapped, and their sap is carefully transformed into pure Vermont maple syrup using time honored techniques and modern craftsmanship.
The result is award-winning maple syrup and maple products that reflect the quality of the land and the dedication of the family who has cared for it for generations. River Hill Farm is a way of life, Every season brings new opportunities to honor the past while building for the future, ensuring that the farm remains a place where tradition, hard work and a love for Vermont continues to thrive.
